L. vigee Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Gift of Nathan Appleton, 1884 This sheet is related to a painting formerly attributed to Watteau and recently published as Mme vigee's second portrait of her mother, Jeanne Maissin Le Sevre (for that work, see Baillio, cited below, p. 14, illus. p. 16, fig. 4). PROVENANCE: Collection of the artist; given by her to her niece by marriage, Eugenie Tripier Le Franc, nee Le Brun; Paris, Hotel Drouot, Vente Tripier Le Franc, June 5-7, 1883, lot 76 (sold with a pendant); Nathan Appleton Boston; donated by him in 1884 to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
