Jeanne Baptiste Le Moyne, the Sculptor was born in 1704 and died in 1778. His father was also a sculptor. In 1725 he was rewarded with the important "Premium of Rome". His most famous piece is " The Baptism of Christ" -1731. He was known for his beautiful busts and also for his work as teacher. Among his pupils were Falconet, Pigalle, Pajou and Houdon. Augustin Pajou (1730-1809) would create a bust of Vigee Le Brun in 1783 . View an engraving of this portrait. Vigée Le Brun also painted the artist's son.
