The identity of the sitter is unknown. Marquis de Choiseul Beaupré - 1775 Oil on canvas Private collection Charles Antoine Etienne de Choiseul, Marquise de Choiseul Beaupré. He was born in Petite Anse, Saint Domingue (now Haiti) on 10 July 1739, and died 13 April 1820. His first wife, Louise Raby, died in 1772. His second wife, Francois Elizabeth Marie Joséphe Walsh, had seven children and died in 1793. His parents were Antoine-Nicolas de Choiseul-Beaupré (1716-1760) and Renée Marie Michelle de Beauval.
